Richmond, VA (November 17, 2011) On Friday, December 2, 2011 at 5:59 p.m., Santa and Lite 98 will count down to the lighting of the downtown office buildings. At 6:00 p.m. James Center’s reindeer and trees will illuminate, and the magic of the holidays will begin with two blocks of family entertainment.

James Center is excited to welcome back Big Ray and the Kool Kats as our featured performance at 6:30 p.m. They have performed everywhere from Bellagio Las Vegas to The Kennedy Center, for events from Presidential Inaugural Balls to concerts with The Temptations, Gladys Knight, Harry

Connick, Jr., Martin Short, The National Symphony, and dozens more, Big Ray and the Kool Kats bring their unique brand of holiday musical festivity to Grand Illumination 2011.

This year, Shelly Perkins of Lite 98 will be Snow Queen! Our entertainment includes: The Greater Richmond Children’s Choir, The Varina High School Marching Band, The Sugar Plum Fairy from the Richmond Ballet, Characters from the Nutcracker Cast, The VCU Trombone Choir, American Youth Harp Ensemble, Singer Patsy Butler, the Virginia Piedmont & Central HO Model Railroad Club and much more. Join the Radio Disney Road Crew for holiday fun including sing-alongs, games, and prize giveaways!

From 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm, SPARC performers and their families will be singing Christmas Carols in the Plaza to welcome everyone to The Grand Illumination.

Street Closing:
On Friday, December 2, 2011: 10th Street will be closed from 9 am - 10 pm from the Parking Deck at Canal Street to Cary Street. The Parking Garage will remain accessible from Canal Street onto 10th Street. The parking lane on Cary Street will close at 9 am and will remain closed until 12 am.

Time: Reindeer and Buildings Illuminate at 6 pm

$3.00 parking is available at the parking deck on the corner of 10th & Canal Streets after 4:00 p.m.
